What is your background and why do you do what you do?

"I started drawing when I was young and it became a way of expressing myself and a way of processing life and my experiences. Moving to Ireland at a young age has had an interesting impact on me and I am fascinated by the ideas of identity and culture and the notion of "home". I have studied architecture in the Dublin Institute of Technology for a year before deciding to pursue Fine Art. I am currently living in Dublin but my travels, particularly to Balaton and Transylvania are a strong influence on me personally."

How do you work?

"Currently I am trying to go back to basics; to pen, ink and graphite on wood, paper, canvas; basically mark-making on any interesting surface. I am also using colour in other projects, to explore relationships between colours and shapes and boundaries. I found that I was getting overwhelmed with all the potential avenues to explore in art and I needed to narrow down my interests to be more effective. While exploring a few ideas, I would like to group them in "albums"

I need some background noise/music when I work. Overthinking is a trap so once I start, I try not to be overly concerned with the end result. I also like to have a few projects going at the same time, so if I am stuck in one, I can work on something else."

Who and what are your influences?

"I love the work of Egry Jozsef at the moment. I saw his work while on a trip to Badacsony in the Balaton area of Hungary and I loved his way of seeing and translating into paint what he saw. Things that inspire me or I get obsessed with are: architecture, traveling and people. I love the works of Andrei Tarkowsky, Akira Kurosawa and Bela Tarr. Installation and video artist Sigalit Landau is also an inspiration to me."

Why do you have a website?

"To bring together a collection of my latest work into a portfolio and see which way to go next."
